Farmers first came to Villa Grove, drawn by some of the richest soil in the state. They purchased land patents for government land in the area for $1.25 an acre. With hard work, dedication, and perseverance the settlers soon turned a wilderness into well cultivated land and they erected substantial buildings. Since then, Villa Grove has always been a close knit, farming community.
In 1978, to celebrate this exceptional way of life, the Villa Grove Junior Chamber of Commerce organized the very first Villa Grove Ag Days. Some Ag Days events have included carnival rides, an antique tractor parade, 5K walk/run, Basketball and Corn Hole tournaments, Bingo, Kiddie tractor pulls, and many, many more. Ag Days are scheduled for the first weekend in August. There is always something happening at the Villa Grove Ag Days. Come celebrate with us.
